Founder of Teacher Mama
I’m on a mission to help you navigate the wonderful world of homeschooling with confidence and joy.
Once upon a time, I was a shy kid navigating the rigors of the public school system. Lunchtimes were lonely, and I rode the school bus through years of bullying. But those experiences ignited a fire within me to create something better for my own children.
Fast forward to today, and I’m a military spouse and a proud mom of two amazing kids. Together, we’ve hopped from Illinois to Mississippi, Louisiana to Japan, and back. Homeschooling isn’t just a choice for us; it’s become a way of life—a constant in the whirlwind of change.
My passion for education led me to a career as an Instructional Architect (a.k.a. Curriculum Designer) at Ease Learning, where I craft effective learning experiences. However, the real adventure began when homeschooling demanded a leap of faith, giving birth to Teacher Mama. Equipped with my Instructional Design credential from Colorado State University, I possess the skills of a curriculum specialist and learning experience designer. Here at Teacher Mama, I spill the beans on our highs and lows, offering tips, resources, and real-life stories for parents on a similar journey.
Before Teacher Mama, I earned my Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees with distinction, graduating with a 4.0 GPA in both (Summa cum Laude, baby!). Additionally, I’ve worked as a Director at Huntington Learning Center, where I witnessed the transformative power of one-on-one education firsthand. Observing students bridging immense gaps in their academic foundation fueled my passion for preventing such gaps, especially for my own children. That’s why Teacher Mama isn’t just a blog—it’s my way of pouring passion into helping friends, family, and readers bridge the gaps in their educational journeys.
Beyond homeschooling, I’m navigating the winding road of health and wellness. Balancing a low-carb lifestyle, managing a bustling household, and catering to diverse dietary preferences is its own odyssey. Yet, in these challenges, I find resilience and the essence of holistic well-being.
But most importantly, Teacher Mama is a community—a cozy corner where we learn, grow, and share laughter together. Join me in exploring the realms of homeschooling, wellness, and the beautiful chaos of family life. Every challenge is an opportunity, and together, we’ll make this homeschooling journey not just successful but profoundly fulfilling.
