Confused by Curriculum Choices? This Will Help You Plan Language Arts & Math with Confidence
If you’re selecting Language Arts or Math curriculum for your homeschool, here’s a resource that many of us in our homeschool community love—especially if you’re still figuring out how to cover all the skills!
Start with this free worksheet:
Family Curriculum Planning Worksheet from Rainbow Resource
www.rainbowresource.com/pdfs/resources/Worksheet_CurriculumPlanning.pdf
It breaks Language Arts into its key skill areas:
Phonics
Reading Skills
Literary Skills
Grammar
Composition
Spelling
Vocabulary
Handwriting

This breakdown can be incredibly helpful. Some programs are “all-in-one,” while others only cover a few of these areas. The worksheet helps you see what your curriculum already includes—and what might need to be added.
As one mama in our homeschool group put it, “This is my favorite homeschool planning sheet!”
Keep in mind:
Not every skill applies to every age. For example, phonics is usually for early elementary, while spelling and grammar tend to span upper elementary through high school. This worksheet can help you build a program that fits your child’s stage—and avoid over- or under-teaching any one area.
If this feels a little overwhelming, reach out. I genuinely enjoy helping families find the right fit for their homeschool!
